Boston Latin School (sixth) is dedicated.

February 22, 1881

Architect: George Clough. It is located at 90 Warren Avenue. Also home to English High School, it opens on March 1, 1881, and is subsequently described as “the largest (building) in the world used as a free public school.” Latin School moves to a new building (seventh) in the Fenway in 1922.* The Montgomery Street building is demolished and another school is built on the site in 1958.*
